We have only on Business Development Executive joined recently and I’m in charge of her performance monitoring. Job description and KPIs are important at this point.

Dear Haji Kumar, Thank you for your question. Everything depends a lot on what exactly you want to measure and monitor, and what the responsibilities of this executive are. For example, if the priority is management skills, then you can have a look at this excellent article by Oleg Tumarkin, he is giving there some excellent examples of KPIs for entrepreneurial and management skills.

In this case I would go for a detailed Balanced Scorecard with a strategy map where you will need to analyze current business challenges and map specific goals and objectives of the new executive.
After this it will be a turn for KPIs. In the most cases it will be easy to come up with lagging KPIs (like % of covered markets), and very hard to come up with good leading KPIs (in your case it might be a “number of meetings with qualified decision makers”).
