This indicator is for measuring the average time duration from when a security threat is identified to the time it is being resolved. This is calculated by dividing the total time spent from identification to resolution of security threats by the total number of threats resolved, in a given time period (e.g. one year).
In order to reach a high IT security level, and prevent counter effects, this implementation duration should be minimized.
In the case of a high duration, the IT management staff may choose to put in place strategic practices and systems to minimise this. Comparison and analysis against other IT security KPIs could also be useful.

Formula:
Total time spent from identification to resolution of security threats/ Total number of security threats resolved

Example:
A company measures this over a month period:

Total number of security threats removed: 100
Total time spent removing security threats: 400 hours

Security Implementation Duration:
Total time spent from identification to resolution of security threats/ Total number of security threats resolved

400/100 = 4 hours

Therefore, the company measures that it takes on average 4 hours to remove a security threat.
