I believe the capacity of meters to be installed per day would be a figure that depends on project size, well task in general. However, you may be able to find a benchmark for the industry of what is the ideal rate of meters of cable installed per day.
From my experience, I would think that part is specified in the project description.
However, you could measure it based on other details such as: total meters of cable to be installed, time to install 1 meter of cable, total FTE (Full time equivalent) effort to install 1 meter of cable, total FTE available etc.
By having these details you could work out how many meters of cable you can install per day.
Let’s take for example the following (hypothetical values, probably different in real life).
Time to install 1 meter of cable: 15 min
Total FTE effort: 2 FTE (so that’s 15 minutes from the working time of two FTEs, 30 minutes of paid work in total)
If you have 50 meters of cable to be installed, and you have 2 FTEs working, with on average 4 meters installed per hour (as it takes 15 minutes per FTE)
If your two FTE work 8 hours a day (let’s assume 9h shift, with 1h break):
Average meters of cables installed per day
Total time available per day/ total time to install one meter of cable
480 minutes/15 minutes = 32 meters of cable installed/per day
Other KPIs you could use:
To install all 50 meters of cable it will take:
50 x 15 minutes = 750 minutes = 12.5 h
Average time to install total meters of cable
Time to install 50 meters of cable/ Working time per day
12.5/8 = 1.56
Hence, on average it takes 1.5 days to install all 50 meters of cable
