KPI for Measuring of IT Security Training % posted in category IT Security

WinningKPI - IT Security - KPI for Measuring of IT Security Training % posted in category IT Security Oana Boteanu This indicator is for measuring what % of the total IT staff training is IT Security Training. This is calculated by dividing the total number of hours of IT Security Training by the Total number of hours of training for the IT team.
This KPI will show the training effort that is dedicated to IT Security. A low % may resemble a low focus on security and, in case other IT Security KPIs have scored negative, this KPI could show a factor that causes that. A lack of IT training is likely to bridge IT security, hence this KPI can be used by companies to analyse their personnel's IT security knowledge.

Formula:
Total number of hours of IT Security Training/ Total number hours of training x 100

KPI Unit: %

KPI Time Frame: update annually

KPI Expert Great tool to measure effort put into IT Security, as it measures how much of the training effort is dedicated to IT Security Training.

Example:
Formula:
Total number of hours of IT Security Training/ Total number hours of training x 100

If a company measures this over a year period and the numbers are:

Total training hours: 600
Total IT Security Training Hours: 80

IT Security Training %:
80/600 x 100 = 13 %

This shows that 13 % of the total training time is dedicated to IT security training. This may not necessarily be a low figure, as it depends on the company size, level of training etc.
