This indicator is for measuring the number of employees that have been nominated or received performance rewards, as a % of the total number of employees, in a given time period (usually annually).
This is calculated by dividing the number of employees nominated or rewarded, by the total number of employees.
High employee motivation is considered to be directly proportional with high employee performance; hence, employees with performance rewards are highly motivated individuals, which excel in their job. A company’s aim is to increase the figure of this KPI, by increasing employee motivation through strategic practices.

As part of the annual performance management, Company A measures the percentage of employees with outstanding performance, which have been nominated or received performance rewards.

The company has a total of 400 employees
For the previous year, 30 employees have been nominated, and 10 of them received performance rewards

30/400 x 100 = 7.5 %
7.5% of the workforce has been nominated for performance rewards, hence has outstanding performance

The following measurement can also be carried out:

10/400 x 100 = 2.5 %
2.5 % of the workforce was awarded performance rewards.
