KPI for Measuring of Hours donated through volunteering programs posted in category Sustainability BalancedScorecard
WinningKPI - Sustainability BalancedScorecard - KPI for Measuring of Hours donated through volunteering programs posted in category Sustainability BalancedScorecard This indicator is for measuring the number of volunteer hours donated by the company, over a given time period. In other words, it measures how many paid hours of the workforce were donated to volunteering activities. This initiative has a great impact on the company’s reputation in terms of social responsibilities and ‘giving back to the community’ status. This KPI is part of almost any sustainability strategy.
Formula: Total number of hours donated to volunteering
Let us take the example below:
Company A has 300 employees. As part of their sustainability strategies, they have a volunteering program put in place with one of the local charities. As part of it, each employee gets 1 working day (7.5 h) per year to do volunteering work. Part of this is helping with elderly care in the local Care Home, planting trees in the city, painting the fence for the local hospital etc.
So, here’s how we calculate the KPI above:
Total number of employees x 3h of volunteering per employee = 300 x 7.5 h = 2250 h per year
This calculation does of course assume that all employees took part in the volunteering program, which may not always be the case. Volunteering tends to be an option rather than a requirement.
